Saturday Nothing Scheduled

How was your Saturday?

Mine was uneventful, just the way I like it.

I did some cooking and actually made my first successful batch of beans.  A trick I learned through America's Test Kitchen cookbook is to simmer the beans in the oven, covered, at 250 degrees.  The theory is it makes them less mushy.  There theory is correct!

I ended up prepping some food for the upcoming week which tapped into my domestic side, always a good thing I suppose.  I baked a big batch of Monster Cookies, using Ree Drummond's recipe - I love it.  Her recipe calls for rice crispies at the end but I didn't have any so I crushed up some cornflakes and I liked them better.

Ray was pressure washing the back patio today and I accidentally stepped on the hose.  After all the cookies I thought I was going cut off the power by my sheer weight.  Hey, it has happened with 2 bike tires so anything is possible!

I took the kids to the library and got some Christmas vintage books.  The library has a great selection of the old, old classics.  You know, like from the 80's  :)

Jaimey loves to get audio books as well so she can listen to them in her room.  Today she chose Little Women.  The dang thing comes with 16 CDs!  I wonder which disc we will lose first.

I think I have mentioned how much Will loves Legos and most recently, Fiddler on the Roof.  Only on YouTube would there be a production of Fiddler on the Roof acted out by Lego characters.  Total bliss for my son.

Now it is time to get my crazy on and pull out my knitting, pop the corn and watch Christmas movies.
