Repurposing With Purpose

Before I get on to my post, I just have to share this...so fitting for me. This morning after my workout I had a 'momentary' lapse of judgment.

OK fine, maybe not momentary... I made some very unhealthy choices at the grocery.  Ray is away at retreat and apparently I justified the unhealthy with the good ol' "when daddy is away, the kids and mommy will play."

Why is it the one time I have frozen french fries, oreos, brownie mix and ice cream in my cart my fitness instructor walks up behind me in line? I'm being totally truthful here.

Yes, I was called on it but I quickly stammered my reasons as to why such junk was in my cart (hey, it was on sale!) In an effort to redeem myself I quickly held up my organic pears and yogurt.  I think my ship had already sunk however.

Anyway...my real post...

Do you see these gross resin patio chairs and table?  Yuck, right?  Remember when I said there wasn't a lot in the budget for NEW patio furniture? In case you forgot,  I did.  So, this little number was going to end up in the landfill.  I am in the middle of trading out farmers market picnic furniture so I knew where this one was headed.

So, what did I do?  I hauled it home and thought I could repaint it so we would at least have something to eat on outside.

The redo cost me 15.00 and probably not worth it, but it will suffice for now.  I chose Squash Yellow as the color.  I bought the oilcloth for just a few pesos when I was working in Oaxaca, Mexico 2 years ago.  I have been saving it for the right time.

I am the most uncrafty person ever, so spray paint is about as far as I go but heck, at least it is colorful!  Yikes, is it ever!  But, I can rest in the fact that not only was it freeeee, it provided a seating area.  Take that you expensive patio furniture shop!
